MSDC Community Support

Our pledge to support communities in Babergh and Mid Suffolk Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are liaising with partners across Suffolk to respond to an increased demand for community support during the COVID-19 crisis. Communities Officers will be contacting every voluntary and community sector group we work with to establish if it’s viable for them to continue to operate, and if so in what capacity. For those groups who sadly have no option but to cease operating, we will ascertain future plans and assist with providing support. Support available for businesses in Babergh and Mid Suffolk Businesses in Babergh and Mid Suffolk are being urged to find out more about the support available to them during the COVID-19 crisis. Responding to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, the Government has announced a package of measures to support businesses. These measures include: Cash grants, Small Business Rate Relief and Rural Rate Relief A Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme for businesses with a turnover of no more than £41 million Business rate relief for businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors Refund to cover 14 days of statutory sick pay for businesses with less than 250 employees Dedicated HMR

School Bus Opt-In

Message to families Is your child eligible for SCC funded school travel? If they are, you will need to opt-in by 31 May 2020 to receive travel for the start of the 2020/2021 school term. If your child already receives SCC funded travel you still need to opt-in every year. If your child is starting secondary school in September 2020 and they are eligible for SCC funded school travel you will be contacted by the 30 March 2020. You will need to opt-in if you would like your child to use this service.
