NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN REVIEW

Public Consultation

Closed - 11th October 2025

Review update

The existing plan has now been in place for 5 years and, as laid out in the plan, a formal review is required.

The Parish Council has undertaken a scoping review - this review took into account the new Government's changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which increased the number of houses areas need to plan for.  This scoping review highlighted that the Plan needed to be updated.

The current plan contains policies which provide for a minimum of 219 dwellings spread over 5 sites over the period 2016-2036.

The Parish Council, working with LUC and Mid Suffolk District Council, identified that Stradbroke needs to plan for a minimum of 200 dwellings during the lifetime of the revised plan 2024-2044.

One site, All Saints Green (60 dwellings), has been built out, another, Land East of Farriers Close (35 dwellings), has been withdrawn.  The 3 remaining sites in the current plan will provide a minimum of 152 dwellings, leaving a minimum of 48 dwellings needing to be planned for.

6 sites were submitted to Mid Suffolk in a call for sites with another submitted directly to the Parish Council. The Parish Council instructed LUC to undertake site assessments to review the sites against set criteria.  One of the sites has been split into 2 different proposals and has been assessed as one large site, and one smaller site. Therefore, 8 sites are being considered to supply the minimum of 48 dwellings.
